Study Permit Requirements for Canada:

It is recommended that the complete study permit application be submitted 2-3 months before the start of classes. Processing times are a minimum of 28 business days.

  1. Complete application for a study permit. If your spouse or common-law partner and/or dependent children will accompany you, they must complete the appropriate application form, i.e. Temporary Foreign Worker or Study Permit. Note that school-age children must apply for a Study Permit.
  2. Marriage and birth certificate for accompanying spouse and children.
  3. Complete Supplementary Information Form. A separate form is required for each applicant 18 years of age or above.
  4. The correct processing fee to be submitted at Bank, and the Green receipt must be submitted.
  5. Passport photographs. Two (2) current photos of each person. On the back of all photos, write the name and date of birth of the person appearing in the photo.
  6. Valid Passport(s). Current passport (valid for six months after the date of intended travel to Canada) and ALL old passports showing previous travel. If the laminated page on the Bio data page is disturbed, a new passport is required.
  7. Copies of 1st four pages of ALL passports (previous and current)
  8. Copy of national identity card for each applicant. (For Afghan nationals, a copy of Tazkara for each applicant.)
  9. Original letter of acceptance from a recognized educational institute showing duration of program and any conditions of acceptance.
  10. Copy of receipt of tuition fee paid.
  11. A personal study plan describing your proposed program of study as it relates to your academic, technical or vocational background. Please ensure to include the following:
    1. Why have you chosen this particular degree option (i.e. Bachelors of Finance)?
    2. Why have you chosen this particular Canadian University for your study destination?
    3. What are your plans after you graduate:
      1. Mention discretely (without being too obvious: i.e. “After graduation, I intend to join my father’s business <Business type> as a Finance Director back in home country”) that you intend to come back to home country;
      2. Preferably with a clear intent to join a position waiting for you in your relatives business or;
  • The intent to join a industry and to contribute to it in some way;
  1. Your Intent should display a clear vision for your study plan convincing the Canadian high commission that you know why you are studying what you are and how it is going to help you achieve your goals (preferably in Pakistan).
  1. ALL original educational documents such as previous educational degrees, certificates or diplomas.
  2. Copies of all educational documents.
  3. Original IELTS and/or TOEFL scores, GRE, GMAT (if applicable).
  4. Copies of IELTS and/or TOEFL scores, GRE, GMAT (if applicable).
  5. Police certificate from each country or territory in which you have resided since attaining the age of 18 years.
  6. Original proof of funds to support yourself (and dependents). These should include, but are not limited to proof of financial support for the period of study;
    1. such as evidence of employment/business (Contract Letter/Business Tax Certificate and firm registration document),
    2. income tax returns,
    3. bank records,
    4. term deposits.
    5. If someone other than yourself or your Parents is providing funds, provide a letter of explanation explaining the reason, documentary evidence of the relationship (In case of an Uncle: Birth certificates, metric certificate and NIC of Parent(s) and uncle determining the family link; in case of the Grandparents, Birth certificates and NIC of Parents and NIC of Grandparents), evidence of financial ability to support your studies (i.e. income tax returns, bank statements, term deposits of the sponsor),
    6. and if sponsored by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, proof of their immigration status in Canada.
  7. Certificate d’acceptation du Quebec (CAQ) or proof of having applied for CAQ, if studying in Quebec. Note that study permit cannot be issued until a valid CAQ received.
  8. Use of representative form (if applicable).
  9. Minor children going to Canada to study must also provide proof of a custodian in Canada.
  10. Complete Military Table, Police Table and Detailed C.V. If you have served or are currently serving in any of the armed forces (i.e. Air Force, Army, Navy, Police etc.).
  11. Citizens of Afghanistan must complete the Afghan questionnaire.
  12. “Custodianship Application” (If applicable: i.e. Students under 19 for FIC|SFU Vancouver; Students under 18 for ICM|U of M)
  13. Documents checklist attached to the application.
